Procedure of calculation of total stellar flux for Fuse bands
From Tauwiki
- For this we have taken the FUV magnitude of the stars contained in each UIT image from the Parker's catalogue (1998) and then converted the magnitudes to flux using the formula:
m(λ) = − 2.5logF(λ) − 21.1
let's say this flux F as f1 and corresponding visual magnitude to be determined as m1.
- Taking the spectral type and assuming a visual magnitude(10), we obtained the intrinsic spectrum for all stars, hence the flux corresponding to the effective wavelength of B1 and B5 filters.lets say this flux as f2 and m2=10.
- using formula: m1-m2= -2.5log(f1/f2), obtained the visual magnitude m1 for the stars.
- Again taking this visual magnitude (m1) , got the spectrum using Kurucz model and the flux in our FUSE bands. Then summed up the fluxes of all the stars to get the total stellar flux.
